This however won’t wait!

November 11 & 12th!  Ottawa Hellenic Centre at 1315 Prince of Wales Drive — that’s where it’s all happening — our fourth annual show of handmade glass beads and jewellery.

This year there are some new faces as well as lots of familiar ones, I’m looking forward to seeing what all the different bead makers and jewellery artists have been up to over the last year.

What am I bringing?  Now that’s a good question!  I’ve got a lot of ideas crashing round inside my mind, I’d just like them to settle down a bit so I can figure out what is what.  I think for the first time this year I will have some Pandora/Biagi/Troll style beads – that’s something new for me.  Who knows there may even be a Goddess on one or two of them!  Hope to see you there!

If you are in the area please stop into Picket Fence Fabrics right down town at 11 King Street West, just a block west of Broad Street (the main downtown intersection).

I have a variety of beads for sale there – double sided faces, monkeys, goddess’ and more!  Most of them are ready to wear necklaces but you’ll also see pins and scissor or cellphone charms.

Whether you are looking for some inspiration or wanting to shop Picket Fence Fabrics is a beautiful store to browse through, the walls are bursting forth with colourful fabrics and quilts.

While quilting fabrics and supplies are the shops main focus you can also find items like felting kits, very cool buttons, sewing tools and and a range of items that are on consignment that would make ideal gifts for yourself or someone else.

Brockville is a beautiful city for a day out, right on the banks of the St. Lawrence the views are breathtaking.  The historic, downtown part of the city is also a feast for the eyes, the architecture of the homes and businesses is varied and a real pleasure to walk around.

Consider taking a drive and enjoying a pleasant day in this historic city.

The Market runs from 10am to 4pm each Sunday through the summer and is located on Blockhouse Island right downtown on the St. Lawrence.  I can’t think of a more beautiful location to set up a booth!

It really is a beautiful location, right on the banks of the St Lawrence River.  There are picnic tables and benches to rest  your weary feet as well as refreshments close by.  If you haven’t been to this location before be prepared to see some mighty big ships going by on their way to and from the Great Lakes!

I’ve seen only a few of the vendors who will be here and am looking forward to see who and what all the tents will hold!

If you aren’t sure where Brockville is, it’s close to mid way between Toronto and Montreal – the 401 runs right through this very scenic city.  The Historical District has many examples of beautiful architecture as well as abundant parkland.

I’ve been looking at setting up a shop right here on my website.  Etsy and ArtFire are fine but folks have to [...]]]> It’s amazing what you can achieve on an unexpected day off work!  I’ve been on the computer all day but have got quite a few jobs done – it feels good to have made progress!

I’ve been looking at setting up a shop right here on my website.  Etsy and ArtFire are fine but folks have to click away from site to get to them, so today I set about putting that right.

You can still find me on Etsy and ArtFire for now, but I’ve set up a shop using Ecwid   right here on my site!

What is Ecwid you might ask?  Well it’s an online storefront.  The basic storefront is free to use and can easily be integrated into websites.  If you click on my ‘buy beads’ link you’ll now get taken right to my very own store!

I’ll be adding items over the coming weeks, for now I have put some of my brand new recycled glass beads in there (I’m looking for a name for these and having a Giveway – check it out here), you’ll find a section for Goddess beads as well as Monkey beads and my Historical recreations.  I’m thinking it might be fun to add a surprise section where I might put beads on sale, or offer free shipping, – little surprises like that are nice now and then!

The Gilded Corner is one of several  businesses located in Davidson’s Court just off the main street.  If you haven’t been there you are missing out on something special!  A beautiful courtyard complete with places to sit and enjoy your visit awaits you.  Around three sides of the courtyard are -

• The Olde & New Shoppe has wonderful collection of antiques, country furniture and different collectibles.   Located in a beautiful old brick home and guarded by Angus McDuff the fearless scotty dog!  Not to worry, Angus is very friendly and it seems he’ll let anyone through the door!
• The Gilded Corner, run by Amy Blair.  Amy does custom picture framing, including shadow boxes, but her store also carries much more – art supplies, jewellery supplies, and local art including pottery, glass, and MY BEADS!  Stop by and sign up for an art class!
• The Bakery Cafe will make anyone’s mouth drool – eat inside or out while the weather holds!  They also have wi-fi if you are looking for a spot to connect.
• Milliwiggins toy shop with wonderfully different educational and fun toys for children.  You won’t find the usual big box store items here, instead you’ll be met with items that you really do want to play with yourself before you gift them on to the child you are shopping for!
• Last but definitely not least Baileys Blade and Bow!  Thar be Vikings here so it MUST be good!!  Diane and George operate a really unique store catering to the ancient soul inside us.  What?  You don’t have one of those?  Bet you will after visiting their emporium of Medievalness!  They have wonderful Books, Blades, Armour, Jewellery and Giftware – all designed to take you back to a time of  chivalrous Knights or adventuring Vikings.

Davidson’s Courtyard also has events – an upcoming one is for Harvest Festival that is in October.  Amy and I are working together to try and arrange for me to do some beadmaking demo’s in the courtyard area that weekend.  I hope it works out and the weather will co-operate as it could be a lot of fun.
